Article 3 - MEMBERSHIP (Adopted 2Oct1991) (Revised 4Sept96)


Section 3. Membership Privileges


      1. A.Honorary Membership

  1. Honorary Members are exempt from paying dues. They shall have only the privileges of Associate Members.

      1. A.Honorary Membership

  1. Honorary Members are exempt from paying dues. They shall have only the privileges of Social Members.


H. Paddling and Rowing Membership

   1. Paddling and Rowing Membership shall be a family membership and shall include all adults and children in a Paddling and Rowing member’s family.  Paddling and Rowing Membership privileges shall be the same as those of Family Active and Strictly Sailing Members except for the following:

a. Title to Club property and assets

b. Naming and seconding of motions

c.  Voting

d.  Holding Office

e.  Skippering a non-paddling boat, except in open regattas      or Club-owned boats after the person has demonstrated      competence in sailboat handling

f.  Storing personal property on Club property except for      canoes, kayaks, rowing sculls or rowboats.


I. Strictly Sailing Membership

   1.    A Strictly Sailing Membership shall be for persons who have proven competence in sailboat handling and wish to use Club-owned boats.  It shall be a family membership and shall include all adults and children in a Strictly Sailing member’s family.  Strictly Sailing Membership privileges shall be the same as those of Family Active and Paddling and Rowing Members except for the following:

a. Title to Club property and assets

b. Naming and seconding of motions

c. Voting

d. Holding Office

e. Skippering a non-paddling boat, except in open regattas     or Club-owned boats

f. Storing personal property on Club property except for    canoes, kayaks, rowing sculls or rowboats



 

The intent is to change the Bylaws as follows:

 

1.  To correct the Honorary membership language to reflect a language change
from Associate to Social membership to conform to our current membership
types;

 

2.  To allow Strictly Sailing members the use of the Club house; and

 

3.  To allow Padding members and Strictly Sailing members to be also be
members of the other so that Paddling members can use Club-owned boats and
Strictly Sailing members can have the privileges of Paddling members such as
going on Paddling trips and launching a kayak or canoe, etc. from the docks.
